About this project: I am no Chaucer or Homer (in the Greek poet sense), but through the 2023 season, I will be writing a poem about each Mets game in an epic poem style. Obviously, I hope this will not be another tragedy! The poem will be in the left column, and the translation will be on the right.
Third game, same story; Peterson takes the punch.
Meaders offense continues to roll…Destroy.
Then Polar Bear and El Sonriso wake up, get a bunch.
But the staff can’t hold them, the staff is their toy.
In the fifth the game gets locked up,
Both bats stagger, pens successfully deploy.
After three scoreless, bottom nine, it’s Brew Crews cup.
A walk-off home run ends it all,
As they take out the brooms and clean up.
The third game of the series seems to start the same way as the first two, as the Brewers get four runs in the second inning. However, Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor combine for five hits and six RBI.
Mets get the lead, but the pitching staff can’t hold it and the Brewers tie up the game in the fifth. After that inning, both pens lock in and hold off any further scoring until the ninth.
However, the Brewers get a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth to win the game and complete the series sweep.
