About this project: I am no Chaucer or Homer (in the Greek poet sense), but through the 2023 season, I will be writing a poem about each Mets game in an epic poem style. Obviously, I hope this will not be another tragedy! The poem will be in the left column, and the translation will be on the right.

Floating at .500 after a full six have been played?
This must mean the end, there will be no more fun!
Max the Mad does not have the Meaders afraid.
Polar Bear, El Sonriso and Escobar have no clue.
In Miami with the Fish is where we should have stayed.
So, we cannot win with this old, overpriced stew!
Winter, we welcome you to take us now,
This season, this team need no further review.
Obvious sarcasm. With how often the Mets have disappointed through the years, it is easy to want to write them off this early in the season.
Max Scherzer did not look good at all, giving up five runs in 5.1 innings. Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor and Eduardo Escobar continue to struggle. We should go back to playing the Marlins, where we did well.
So, we should just give up and surrender the season…It is no longer worth watching!
