About this project: I am no Chaucer or Homer (in the Greek poet sense), but through the 2023 season, I will be writing a poem about each Mets game in an epic poem style. Obviously, I hope this will not be another tragedy! The poem will be in the left column, and the translation will be on the right.
Resurgent Amazins get it, again, done!
Another comeback, late-inning, clutch,
With veterans now stepping up and having fun.
Max the Mad mowed them down, not yielding much.
Nimmo and McNeil and Volgy all pitch in,
But it was a big time big hit that gave it a nice touch.
Shining Starling Marte the Man, where have you been?
Seems you were missing for a non-New York minute.
It sure was sweet to see your swing secure the win!
Mets get another comeback victory with the veterans leading the way this time.
Scherzer had a solid outing with Brandon Nimmo hitting a homerun, Jeff McNeil getting a couple of hits and Daniel Vogelback getting on base three times.
However, Starling Marte had the big hit, a two-run home run in the 8th that put the Mets up. He has been struggling at the plate for a while.
