Epic of the Amazins: 37 AGS – 044 Power of Youth

About this project: I am no Chaucer or Homer (in the Greek poet sense), but through the 2023 season, I will be writing a poem about each Mets game in an epic poem style. Obviously, I hope this will not be another tragedy! The poem will be in the left column, and the translation will be on the right.

There is Life…Let’s F-ing Go!

The Mighty Amazins awake; New day dawns.

Is this how we get back? Let the future show?

Vientos the Rookie Victor at Citi spawns,

Stands tall, takes a mighty swing: a new game!

The young man raises the Big Apple, no more Minor lawns.

Alvarez the Savior, relaxes then sets Gothem aflame.

Senga the Ghost Fork was what we hoped for and need,

And the Big Polar Pete shares in the fame!

After looking lifeless and uninspired for weeks, the Mets wake up and get a huge game. The young players delivered and makes the Scribe wonders if they are the key to winning again.

Mark Vientos, called up earlier in the day, hit a two run home run to tie the game in the 7th. Perhaps now, they won’t send him back to the minors.

Francisco Alvarez hit a two out three run home run in the ninth to tie the game and Pete Alonso hit a three run home run in the 10th to win it. Kodai Seng pitched a great game early to set it all up.
