About this project: I am no Chaucer or Homer (in the Greek poet sense), but through the 2023 season, I will be writing a poem about each Mets game in an epic poem style. Obviously, I hope this will not be another tragedy! The poem will be in the left column, and the translation will be on the right.
Fish were haunted again by a ghost,
As Senga solid in first Citi start,
Firing his forkball, leaving them with nothing to boast.
Senga’s nasty pitch tore the Fish apart,
The pen came in, slammed the door,
And leaving them without a comeback heart.
Canha gets two, starting to show some more.
Escobar gets his first homer to add two,
And Alonso home run bat is starting to roar.
Kodai Senga uses his Ghost Forkball to dominate the Marlins in his first start in New York.
Senga ripped through the Marlins lineup and the pen came in and dominated, as well.
The Mets walked 12 times in the game with Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso hitting home runs in front of a very happy crowd at CitiField.
Mark Canha has a couple of hits, Eduardo Escobar gets his first home run and Pete Alonso hits his fifth home run.
