Epic of the Amazins: 37 AGS – 015

About this project: I am no Chaucer or Homer (in the Greek poet sense), but through the 2023 season, I will be writing a poem about each Mets game in an epic poem style. Obviously, I hope this will not be another tragedy! The poem will be in the left column, and the translation will be on the right.

Even the lowly Yellowphants find a way to get to Cookie,

As they, in second, get two runs on three hits,

But then their bats play hooky.

Carrasco settle in, shows signs of glitz,

Gets through five before handing it over to the pen,

Who come out strong and continue to blitz.

Polar Pete is fire and homers again.

Canha the Quiet then adds one of his own.

Nimmo puts us ahead with a double and a moment of zen.

Carlos Carrasco struggles again against the weak-hitting A’s, giving up two runs on three hits in the second. However, their bats go dry after that.

Carrasco settled in after that, even shining. The bullpen continues to play strong and shut them down.

Pete Alonso and Mark Canha each hit home runs and then Brandon Nimmo doubled in the go-ahead run.
