I wrote this in high school…My only explaination is that ee cummings was my favorite poet at the time.  However, there is a reason behind how each part is written.

The catcher comes to bat

Pitcher due up next
Pinch hitter
Swing and a miss
Two outs
Down by four
One out left
Left-fielder to hit
Hit past second
Second hit follows
Followed by a double,
Double runs score
Score too high
“Hi” to a new pitcher
Pitcher walks batter
Batter steals second
Second and third
Third out does not come
Coming in is pitch
Pitch no good
Good hit
Hit high up
Upper deck
