37 AGS: 004

About this project: I am no Chaucer or Homer (in the Greek poet sense), but through the 2023 season, I will be writing a poem about each Mets game in an epic poem style. Obviously, I hope this will not be another tragedy! The poem will be in the left column, and the translation will be on the right.

Nervous eyes watch as Senga starts out slow.

A single, a double, two walks, a run before an out.

The Faithful fear he was not ready for the show!

But two strikeouts hold off a potential rout,

And he started to settle in, solid and strong,

Showing the Amazins he can back up the clout!

As the Ghost Fork did the Fish so wrong,

Tommy Pham’s bat conducted the fry,

And the Amazins’ just rolled along.

In his Major League debut, Kodai Senga gets off to a rough start making a lot of fans nervous, fearing it was a mistake to go after him.

However, he got two strikeouts to kill the rally and pitched strong the rest of the way, living up to the hype, for now.

Senga’s signature pitch is called the Ghost Fork and the Marlins had trouble with it. Tommy Pham had three hits and three RBI in the game.
